Nike's Private Jet For Athletes

The world’s best athletes are no strangers to flying by private jet. Besides, putting a team of gangly NBA stars in the cramped seats of a regular airliner must surely breach some sort of human right.

Now, however, this has been taken one step further, with Nike and design firm Teague joining forces to conceptualise a private jet especially for sports teams. It comes after recent studies showed that top athletes who cross over three time zones end up with a 60 percent chance of losing their games.

Which should be no surprise if you know South American footballers who ply their trade in England before jetting off to join their international team-mates for qualifying matches, with these teams ferrying prized body parts across continents with little thought of how the physical impact of travel takes its toll.

So precisely how does this space-age looking beauty differ, you ask? Using a space with would normally seat 100-400 passengers, it’s been designed for a team of 13, ensuring the ultimate in roominess as medical staff keep an eye on the health of their athletes via live physiological data collected via sensors in clothing, similar to those used in the Nike Fuelband.

Other worthy mentions of the Swoosh-clad interior include a chill out room, Nutrition Zone and beds that might as well have been lifted from the set of Prometheus. What's more, each zone pays specific attention to foot traffic, climate control, privacy and noise and light disturbances.

We expect a 747-sized reply from Adidas very soon.
