Renovo Coupe Electric Supercar

Renovo Coupe Electric Supercar
17 August 2014

Brum. Vrume. Ggggrrrrrooooowwwnnnn. All convincing 'fast car' noises, none of which will be made by America's "first" electric supercar, the Renovo Coupe. It makes more of a whistling noise.

While lacking the trademark grumble of the classic sportscar, the Coupe still has plenty of grunt where it counts: three lithium ion batteries generate an equivalent to over 500 horsepower, catapulting the modified Shelby Daytona chasis from 0-60 in 3.4 seconds before reaching a top speed of a law-breaking 129mph.

With a driving range of around 100 miles (though presumably this is a great deal shorter if you keep testing out the 0-60 time), owners will be able to 'quick charge' their cars in half an hour with a full charge taking around five hours.

Set to go into a limited production run in 2015, the Coupe is one of those 'no price tag' cars. If you really want to ask Renovo how much it costs, expect something in the region of $500,000 (£299,000). We'd stick to the significantly-cheaper, uglier and faster Tesla Roadster for now. You can listen to a voice-over man get all teary-eyed over the Coupe in the video below.
