A couch. A car. A carpet. Some items are so central to the identity of pop culture greats that just a glimpse of them is enough to inspire waves of nostalgia.

That's the idea behind the 'Icon' art show at Gallery 1988. The talented minds of Dan Kuhlken and Nathan Goldman (DKNG) have created a series of 50 bright, minimal geometric works that capture the identities of iconic films and TV shows on 12-inch canvas.

Pop culture greats including Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Beavis and Butthead, The Shining, Back to the Future, Arrested Development and Willy Wonka have all found their way into the exhibition, which opens on 14 June. Any canvases which haven't been snapped up during the exhibition will be available online from 15 June, so be sure to keep an eye on the Gallery 1988 store if you want to nab one of the prints.

Here are nine of the 50 works to have been revealed so far.
