When comedy meets art

When comedy meets art

Laughing with and laughing at

It's easy to downplay the importance of comedians. With their rubbery faces, silly voices and jokes about mother-in-laws (okay so we need to start watching a better variety of comedy) they can seem like glorified court jesters.

But maybe we should stop being so damn serious and recognise them as the artistes they really are. For the second year in a row, Funny or Die and Gallery 1988 have joined forces for this very reason.

Their Is This Thing On? exhibition showcases the work of 100 artists who have created paintings, prints and sculptures to pay tribute to their favourite joke-makers.

If you happen to be in Melrose then head on down as it will be running until the end of March.
