Classic art recreated with desserts

The closest we've come to creating food art was when pushed peas onto the prongs of a fork to make a pattern. We weren't given any pudding that day.

New York-based food and drink photographer Sarah Anne Ward has taken playing with food to an altogether higher plane with her series entitled Dessert Art. Working with food stylists Michelle Gatton and Heather Meldrom, Ward has recreated famous pieces of artwork in after dinner glory, from Rothko to Koons.

While we're no strangers to the world of art in food, Ward's creations have succeeded in one important aspect that most fail to achieve: we actually want to eat them.
