Banish all memory of 22 Jump Street and She's The Man (should be no problem there, to be honest) while you still can. Channing Tatum is about to get dark, really dark.
In the second teaser trailer for true story drama Foxcatcher, starring Tatum as former Olympic wrestler Mark Schultz and his tragic relationship with his unhinged mentor and benefactor John Du Pont (a barely recognisable Steve Carell), the intensity is ramped up as we’re given further insight into the emotions of Tatum’s naïve jock.
We could go deeper into exactly what happens between the pair in the tense thriller, or you can pay a trip to Wikipedia, but if you're not familiar with the real story then we implore you to wait until the film's release next year - a hell of a wait, we know.
But as we say, it's dark, to the point of banging his head against a mirror, slapping his own face and having a heart-to-heart with his brother and ex-wrestler (Mark Ruffalo), we're also given a glimpse at why Oscar buzz is already high for Bennett Miller’s (Capote, Moneyball) latest effort.
Chances are we could see Carell and Tatum both lifting gold come Oscar night.
Foxcatcher hits cinemas from 9 January, 2015
