Spare a thought for poor Ben Affleck. First the beard’s gone, now the girl.
We’re alluding to Gone Girl, of course, the upcoming film directed by David Fincher and starring Affleck as the grieving and possibly guilty husband who sweats it out under national spotlight when his wife (Rosamund Pike) is declared missing and suspected dead.
If you're still to lap up Gillian Flynn’s best-selling book from which it's adapted, expect twists galore as Affleck's self-obsessed and grouchy suburbanite faces questions about the truths surrounding his marriage. Is he a killer? Is he a victim? Is something altogether more sinister at play? With his shelves still heaving in the wake of awards-darling Argo, not to mention a role of Batman on the horizon, Affleck looks odds on to continue his hot streak. But then he's in the hands of Fincher, and, well, he's not exactly a stranger to thriller terrain, is he?
