While Cesc Fabregas’s long-awaited move to Barcelona has had a negative effect on his hairstyle (would Arsenal fans have been quite so tolerant of an Alice band?), it’s fair to say that his feet have flourished.

Despite being up against some of the fiercest midfield competition on the planet, the Spaniard has become a regular starter for the Catalan giants, and out-scored the likes of Xavi and Andres Iniesta in the process.

Unsurprisingly, then, Puma is more than a little excited about the fact his achievements have been aided and abetted by its latest boots.

As its name suggests, the PowerCat 1.12 was designed specifically for ‘power’ players such as Fabregas, who are equally adept at bossing the midfield as they are firing net-busters past goalkeepers.

The boot’s toe features thermoplastic material with different degrees of toughness, boosting grip on the ball and enabling a more powerful shot. There are also lightweight microfibres in the lateral quarters to support the midfoot and provide extra comfort, all for £135.

And, with the sport brand currently collecting top players like football stickers (as well as Fabregas, Puma’s signings include Manchester City pair Yaya Toure and Sergio Aguero), we can certainly expect more exciting endorsements in the near future…
