Daily Mail Mistakenly Publish 'Amanda Knox Guilty' Story

Mail fail as website jumps the mother of all guns

Daily Mail Mistakenly Publish 'Amanda Knox Guilty' Story
03 October 2011

The Daily Mail Online ran a news story claiming that Amanda Knox's murder conviction was upheld on Monday.

Yesterday Knox was found not guilty of murdering Meredith Kercher. She successfully appealed the 2009 conviction after spending the past four years in jail, and is now heading back to the US.

It is thought the news site had two stories ready to go, one to cover a 'guilty' verdict and one to cover 'not guilty'. But they jumped the mother of all guns as soon as Knox was found guilty of defamation.

The opening line read: "Amanda Knox looked stunned this evening as she dramatically lost her prison appeal against her murder conviction." It said the case's prosecutors were "'delighted with the verdict". It even said that Knox and fellow defendant Raffaele Sollecito would be returning to prison, where they would be on suicide watch for the next few days.
