World cuisine follows a strict set of stereotypes, laid down by xenophobia and culture alike. The French are known for their delectable patisseries and fine cheeses. The Italians for their superb pizzas and beautiful pastas. The Americans for... well, for making everything bigger and serving it with bacon.
Joel Pena, chef at the USA's Levy Restaurants, has helped throw more fat-riddled fuel on this culinary meme with the birth of his Shake ‘N Bacon Brew - the deadliest milkshake known to man.
Created to commemorate the AAA Texas 500 NASCAR Tripleheader Weekend, Pena drew on a combination of NASCAR gastro addictions: half a bottle of Rahr & Sons Ugly Pug Black Lager, six ounces of Blue Bell vanilla ice cream, two ounces of bacon-infused maple syrup, two ounces of candied bacon (as a garnish) and whipped cream - a milkshake that does more harm to your health than the average hand grenade.
Should NASCAR fans wish to push their child into a diabetic lifestyle, a root beer version will also be available. The Shake 'N Bacon Brew will only be available at the Texas Motor Speedway for the race weekend of the 31 October to 3 November. We hope to goodness the local emergency services and stomach pump suppliers have been informed.
