The Terror Returns

Dead Space is back

Sci-fi horror Dead Space is back to ruin your sleep

In space, no one can hear you scream. Or at least, that’s what we’re told, and scientifically speaking, it sounds plausible. In your flat however, when you’re playing Dead Space and you suddenly let out a girly squeal just as something jumps out at you – everyone in the vicinity can hear. And will instantly start smirking. But it’s OK – the Dead Space series is genuinely terrifying, as any inspired-by-Alien game should be. And now, as the post credits scene in Dead Space 2 suggested (and the two million sales in the first week demanded), EA has announced Dead Space 3.

No longer set simply on a spaceship or space station, you again play as Isaac Clarke who has crash-landed on a frozen planet. A planet that just so happens to hold the key to ending the extra-terrestrial Necromorph plague that’s tormenting humanity. Although the harsh conditions and evolved enemies will make it a difficult task. Unless you play on ‘easy’, of course. For the first time in the franchise, there’s co-op gameplay. Isaac is accompanied by a soldier called John Carver, who’ll be shooting alongside you. And, as it’s not out until next year, you have time to soundproof your living room so you can retain a modicum of dignity with the neighbours.

Dead Space 3 will be released in 2013 on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360
