What could be more adventurous than hitting the trail with a boat on your back? Zipping down a remote, fast-flowing river, to spend a night under the stars eating fresh, barbequed fish, trading ghost stories.
However, if you’re anything like as neurotic as us, you’ll be harbouring a secret fear that Kevin Bacon and John C Reilly, plus a revolving cast of murderous hillbillies a la Deliverance, could spring out from the trees at any moment.
While the Alpackalypse raft can’t stop you being caught up in a series of unfortunate river-bound events, it can at least make getting around (or escaping) a lot easier.
Six years in the making, it’s a light and agile raft that weighs only a shade over 10lbs when packed down. When inflated, it can accommodate significantly more cargo than its competitors, thanks to its smaller air tubes, which also aid its acceleration and manoeuvrability.
Nearly 8ft long, but only 33” wide, the Alpackalypse is the perfect vessel for any budding whitewater adventurers.
Prices start at $1,900 (£1,188).
