Someone has made an easy-to-use handgun for the disabled

Constitution Arms, who we like to think play The Star-Spangled Banner on a loop in their office, has created a single shot weapon that looks like a cross between a grenade and a blood pressure pump aimed at the disabled and elderly. By which we mean for the disabled and elderly.

What with all the mass shootings and gun crime in the USA, it only makes sense to arm everyone, right?

And with a single button trigger, it’s easy for those hard of hand to shoot a gun. Just like every other American has the right to.

The CEO of Constitution Arms and the designer of the weapon, Matthew Carmel, told the ever-reliable Fox News the following when asked why he had specially targeted his product at seniors and the disabled:

Because seniors and the disable suffer a disproportionate share of being victims to crime. Most precisely because they are vulnerable.

I find it amazing that the government wouldn’t want to support the most vulnerable sectors of our society.

I didn’t think it was going to be this big, I thought it was going to be for a small niche of people. I can’t tell you the number of emails I’m getting. I’m overwhelmed.

Constitution Arms claims that the core principle behind the design of the weapon is specifically that it is designed for patients who wish to participate in “recreational target shooting but heretofore could not due to medical conditions affecting manual dexterity”

In the same breath, it describes the weapon as a “self-defense firearm”, a “self-defense handgun for women and seniors”. And apparently no one saw a contradiction in these statements.

The design took nearly nine years to perfect, inspired by the age-old difficulty of holding a gun and wreaking havoc simultaneously:

When students first learn to shoot, many have great difficulty gripping or racking the slide of a traditionally configured semi-automatic handgun.

A solution to this common problem was inspired by a T-handled screw driver.

It suggested use of the thumb to press a button rather than the index finger to pull a trigger. Thus was born the Palm Pistol.®

We’re all for equal rights, but surely this is just adding fuel to the firearm issue.
