Without wanting to sound disparaging, wherever you went on holiday this summer we bet your hotel wasn’t as unique as this one.
We don’t care about your hot tubs, your eco-friendly resorts and your endless supply of Verve Clicquot, was your hotel in space? No it was not. This one is. End of argument.
Ok, so this space hotel isn’t actually operational yet, but Russian company Orbital Technologies aims to have its Commercial Space Station taking guests by 2016.
The hotel will orbit 217 miles above earth and have room for seven guests, paying something in the region of a cool £600,000 for five days on board and two days travelling to their destination in a Soyuz rocket. Moreover, unlike more basic space stations, the CSS will have sealed showers and pre-prepared food will be reheated in a microwave.
So, perhaps not as cheap, or comfortable, as two weeks in Ibiza, but still something to brag about to the neighbours, eh?
