A calcualator that tells you if robots will take your job
Pesky robots. When they aren’t trying to save us money on our insurance in TV ads, they’re actively trying to steal our jobs.
Say what you want about the benefits of technology, but for many manual workers, machines have already a negative benefit - and as machines become increasingly more practical, perhaps you should be worried about your own job too.
Developed by news group NPR, this website uses Oxford University research into the effectiveness of robotics vs humans in the workplace along with other key factors to calculate how likely it is that a bot may one day steal your own 9-5 slog.
Some of the factors include human elements such as negotiation, which is why mental health workers are only have a three per cent chance of robots taking over. Architects find themselves in an even better position, estimated at under two per cent along with mechanical engineers (obviously – we don’t want a full blown human-on-robot war happening).
Other sectors aren’t so lucky. Many admin and office administrative support workers standing well over a 97 per cent chance of eventually being replaced by hardwired personnel, and we wouldn't advocate going into retail anytime soon either.
