Now The Russian Embassy Is Trolling David Cameron Over Pig Gate
David Cameron's PR team really are making a pig's ear of this...
Since word broke that the PM may have allegedly put a certain part of his anatomy inside a dead hog, the ribbing has been unsurprisingly swift and brutal.
As the Twittersphere erupted into a lava flow of jokes and memes, Charlie Brooker reminded us all of the similarities between this incident and Black Mirror, while the Labour Press department broke out the Percy Pigs (Veggie one too, Corbyn would have been pleased to know). Only Cameron hasn't said a word, remaining hopeful it will all blow over given time.
Well sorry, Dave, it won't, because now even Russia has got in on #piggate, following @Cameronpig from their UK Embassy Twitter account. That’s right, one of the world’s biggest superpowers has trolled an embarrassed Prime Minister about whether he may or may not have been intimately familiar with a farmyard animal via a passive aggressive click of a button.
Not that relations between the two countries weren’t already strained enough, what with the Ukraine saga, Russian bombers regularly straying into UK airspace and the fact the Home Office recently shipped some Russian diplomats home after accusations of spying.
Could World War Three be brought about by one mirthful jab on Twitter? Let’s hope Cameron’s PR team gets its act together and sorts this mess out once and for all. They’ve made a pig’s ear of it so far.
They’d better get crackling. Wait, no, we mean, cracking. CRACKING.
