I want to announce this to the Anericas, and our friends in Spain, Turkey and the UK including England, that as of 0900 mountain time, Paramount Pictures and myself, Ronald Joseph Aaron Burgundy, have comes to terms on a sequel to Anchorman...
Cue an entire planet going off its collective ass with excitement. This was the moment that Ron Burgundy himself broke the news of an Anchorman sequel on last night's Conan O'Brian Show.
The big reveal began with a tweet from the host who said Ron would be stopping by to make an announcement. Those who saw it immediately assumed an Anchorman sequel was imminent. Those in the studio audience wouldn't have had a clue.
Last year Paramount reportedly turned a proposal for a sequel down, but apparently the negotiations weren't permanently over. McKay is expected to direct with Steve Carell and Paul Rudd, now much bigger Hollywood fish, also on the cards to return.
