What?
Stephen "The funny-looking one who does brilliant stuff with Gervais" Merchant is joining the final claw-filled chapter of Hugh Jackson's Wolverine saga?
Word comes from Deadline that the British comedian has joined the cast of Wolverine 3 - a film that Jackman claims will be his final appearance as the Canadian mutant, a role he's had mixed fortunes with since taking on the role for 2000's X-Men. We're looking squarely at you, X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
There's no confirmation on the nature of Merchant's role, but we'd be amazed if it was anything other than a bumbling British boffin, constantly overwhelmed by Jackson's ample claws.
Merchant joins a confirmed cast of Jackman, Richard E Grant, Patrick Stewart and Narcos' Boyd Holbrook - set to take the central villain role. The Wolverine director James Mangold will have another chance to make a decent superhero film.
Scheduled for a release in March 2017, here's hoping Merchant and co. give Jackman the send-off he deserves.
