The first trailer for Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice
The first trailer for Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice
With Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy still fresh in our frontal cortex, it goes without saying that Zack Snyder has some big shoes to fill with Batman vs Superman: Dawn Of Justice.
It seems, at least for those unfamiliar with the comic books, the upcoming blockbuster has already posed a few weighty questions: Why are these two traditional good guys pitted against one another? How on earth is flesh-and-blood Bruce Wayne going to win a fight with a man who once spun the earth around? And just when are we going to see some footage?
And here’s the first teaser trailer, answering at least one of the aforementioned quandaries. Along with Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor, we're also treated to a voiceover from Jeremy Irons’ Alfred, explaining how good men can become cruel in the face of overwhelming power - which incidentally is the perfect excuse for a fight - as the choppy visuals soon make it clear that mankind has ostracised poor old Superman.
And by the looks of things, Batman’s prepared. Ben Affleck’s first outing as Bruce Wayne sees him kitted out in full battle armour, ready to go a few rounds with Cavill’s Man Of Steel in the rain. It's here, in the waterlogged, moody finale of the trailer, where Batman also reveals his terrifying voice box.
"Tell me, do you bleed?" asks Batman. "You will."
Tantalising stuff. Now stop reading, and get watching.
Batman V Superman hits cinemas from March 25, 2016
