After 27 seasons and one movie of being "the Springfield hellraiser that always emerges unscathed", Bart Simpson is set to meet his end at the hand of his Kelsey Grammer-voiced nemesis, Sideshow Bob.
Revealed by executive producer Al Jean during a Simpsons panel at ATX Festival in Austin, Texas, Jean said: “I’m one of the people that always wanted to see the Coyote eat the Roadrunner… I hated frustration comedy, so we’ll scratch that itch.”

It's a quote that is both horrifying and could lead you to speculate if that’s where the concept for Itchy and Scratchy came from - but more importantly, Bart’s going to be killed!?
Don’t start boycotting the show just yet though: the storyline will feature as one of the shorts from the shows’ now infamous “Treehouse of Horror” specials, which often deviate from standard plots, so it’s more than likely that we’ve not seen the end of Bart forever.
The episode will be aired 'later this fall,' which translates from American as "autumn".
