Amazing new Star Wars Toys we can't wait to play with

Star Wars Celebration has shown us some of the biggest Star Wars toys heading our way.

10 April 2023

Star Wars Celebration has just taken place in London. It sees Star Wars fans, actors and creators come together to, well, celebrate all things Star Wars.

It’s also where we get a glimpse at some of the new merch heading our way over the coming weeks, months and, in some cases, years.

We’ve dug through all the announcements from Star Wats Celebration to pick out a fistful of our favourites. Here are some of the top Star Wars toys picks to look out for, coming soon to shelves.

The Black Series Ashoka's Clone Trooper Premium helmet

£131.99

OK, so we’ve seen helmets like this one before. It’s a full-size headpiece that lets you feel like a storm trooper, and has a voice distortion effect. The first of this series was released way back in 2015. This new model digs a bit deeper into Star Wars lore, representing the band of clone troopers who sided with Ahsoka Tano during the Clone Wars, through that funky paint job.

The Black Series Artoo-Detoo

$24.99

Stars Wars toys don’t get much more classic in their appearance than this 6-inch R2D2 figure, whose design is inspired by the character’s look in Return of the Jedi. It’s a properly articulated toy, and has a pull-out antenna. Hasbro released a very similar figure back in 2013 as a “wave 1” release, and you’ll pay around 10 times as much for it today, as it’s discontinued. It makes this new version seem a steal.

The Vintage Collection The Mandalorian's N1 Starfighter

$133.99

The price of this vehicle plus figurine combo clearly places the N1 Starfighter in the realm of collectors rather than Star Wars-obsessed kids and their parents. But c’mon, it does look pretty cool. To get an idea of the size of this one — it’s built to the scale of a 3.75-inch tall figure. And it includes such a figurine, of the Mandalorian. Plus his tiny mate Grogu. You might want to get on the pre-order alerts list for this one as we can picture it selling out, despite the relatively high price.

LEGO X-Wing Starfighter

£209.99

LEGO has produced a bunch of X-Wing kits before. Of course it has. But this one is a bit special. It’s an expansive 1949-piece kit that is made pretty much exclusively for adults, and has an 18+ rating, despite being completely family-friendly in the traditional sense. Based on a quick search online, this looks to be the most detailed, piece-packed X-Wing Starfighter to date. It’s also coming pretty soon, available from May 4 — obviously — according to the LEGO website.

LEGO Endor Speed Chase

£69.99

This LEGO set will instantly transport you to happy times watching Return of the Jedi. Or less happy ones if you’re convinced the Ewoks ruined the original trilogy. It’s a 608-piece recreation of the speeder bike chase through the forest of Endor. You might not assume it has that many pieces from a glance, but it is 28cm wide. And those tree models are pretty chunky.

Star Wars Chatter Back Chopper Animatronic robot

$80

The TV show this cute droid show is based on, Ashoka, isn’t due until much later this year. But holy heck this is a cute and surprisingly advanced little droid. It’s not just an articulated plastic figure. It is an animatronic robot with more than 40 sound and movement combos. And it reacts to your voice too. It’s chunky, at 7.5-inch tall. So while the price may initially look a little high for a largely plastic toy, there’s a lot more going on here than you might guess.

The Black Series Dok-Ondar figure

$TBC

If your shelves are already stuffed with Darth Vaders and Luke Skywalkers, it’s time to dig deeper. This figure represents black market trader DOK-ONDAR, who featured in some of the Star Wars comics, and is found in Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland. He also gets the briefest of mentions in the Solo film. We’re mostly here for the neat character design, but Disneyland fans may want to get on board with this one too.

Star Wars Emperor’s Throne Room Diorama Building Set

£89.99

A set made to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Return of the Jedi. It’s a 807 piece kit that depicts the emperor’s throne room and the lightsaber battle between Darth Vader and one-handed Luke Skywalker. The emperor’s here too, of course. We think this set is best suited to folks who plan to make the set and display it, rather than stage lightsaber wars on the thing, due to its relatively small play surface.
