Dr. Martens raises anarchy with 60th anniversary Sex Pistols collaboration

Dr. Martens has become renowned for its celebrity fans and all-star collaborations. Now, as part of its 60th anniversary celebrations, the footwear hero has teamed up with Brit punk icons the Sex Pistols to unleash the ultimate limited-edition collection.

Forming part of the 12 design release dropping over the course of 12 months throughout 2020, the statement footwear is as distinctive as the band it pays homage to.

A nod to the Pistols infamous 1976 Bill Gundy interview that catapulted punk into the spotlight - simultaneously putting an end to Grundy’s career - the collab features two distinctive designs.

The 1461 shoe is a twist on a classic, adorned with the contrasting black and white newspaper headlines that dominated the British media following the interview.

And the 1460 boot treads a similar path (excuse the pun). The all-black Milled Smooth leather design is as eye-catching as you’d hope, adorned with the words ‘Sex Pistols’ ‘Anarchy’ and ‘God Save The Queen’ across the upper.

And for those on the hunt for something practical and stylish, there’s a limited-edition backpack stamped with a similarly bold design.

It’s strange to think the band’s career only spanned two and a half years, however, it’s safe to say their legacy will continue - whether that be on people’s feet or through their anarchistic tunes.
