Get ready to return to Fabuland with new LEGO House exclusive set

The sixth LEGO House exclusive set has been announced, and it's celebrating an old-school classic — LEGO Fabuland. This easy-to-build range focused on children aged 3 to 7 and was first introduced in 1979 before being discontinued in 1989. During its ten year heyday, Fabuland’s popularity saw it stretch to licensed shows, clothes and more for children to enjoy.

This limited edition set will be for anyone who grew up in the 80s wanting a balance between a healthy hit of nostalgia and a smart collectible to display. As with the rest of the LEGO House exclusive sets, you will need to go to where it's located — in Denmark — to get one for yourself, as that's where this set will be exclusively sold from 1st March for 649DKK (or about £73).

Although there were plenty of characters by the time the sun set on Fabuland, this set will focus on Edward Elephant, Joe Crow, Dr Lucy Lamb and Clive Crocodile, who have been "re-imagined in line with modern LEGO design principles."

A story to remember

One of the things that made this series of sets so unique was the building instructions included. Unlike other sets at the time, they were presented as a story written to be enjoyed by children. Luckily, this feature has also been included this time around. Chances are you won't need those instructions now, but it's a lovely homage to what will be a warm part of many people's childhood.

Stuart Harris, the LEGO House Master Builder who helped design the set, said "Fabuland holds a very sentimental place in my heart; having spent so much time with our history collection and product archive, I was always captivated by the series. You can really see the influence it had on the storytelling themes of future series from the LEGO Group, including LEGO NINJAGO, LEGO Friends, LEGO Bionicle and more."

Clearly, this part of LEGO's history is held in high esteem by those within the company, and this exclusive set recognises that as another glimpse into LEGO's storied past.
