Snoop Dogg seems to have a knack for staying eternally cultural relevant, sliding into meme culture and Fortnite skins like he grew up in this era. But we’re more into his latest venture: Still G.I.N..
This is, you guessed it, a bottle of gin. And it continues Snoop’s partnership with rap legend Dr. Dre, after whom the drink is really named.
“This is not a spirit that we're just putting our name on,” Dr. Dre explains. “It's just like we did with Beats headphones. Everything is us from the ground up: the gin, the flavour, the packaging. Everything had to be perfect.”
Snoop and Dre have not been brewing this stuff in a home still, though. It’s the result of a wider team that includes a bunch of drinks industry veterans. And they all operate together under the banner of By Dre and Snoop.
You may have already encountered their Gin & Juice cocktail, a canned concoction that comes in apricot, citrus, melon and passionfruit flavours.
The pressure is on with this pure gin, though, needing to satisfy much more than just the casual drinker out to supply a house party or picnic.
By Dre and Scoop’s official release says Still G.I.N.’s flavour profile has core elements of “tangerine, rose and coriander” and is intended to for both cocktails and as a naked sipper.
“We’ve been a part of the evolution of this gin – from the creation of the flavour to the percentage of alcohol that's in it – and it’s just so good,” says Snoop Dogg. “Dre’s a perfectionist: he wants to make sure it’s not just good, but great. Together, we ain’t gonna do nothing regular!”
Still G.I.N. is copper pot distilled and claims to be part of the “ultra-premium” class of spirits. It's a 42.5% ABV 80 proof gin.
A 70cl bottle will cost you £38, and what a bottle it is, bearing a distinctive honeycomb design. The packaging was designed by US artist Ini Archibong. It launched in the US back in October, but now you can pick it up in the UK too.
