Star-studded F1 movie gets its first major trailer
Brad Pitt stars in this upcoming F1 movie from the maker of Top Gun: Maverick
A movie about F1 is coming next year, and it brings together some major Hollywood talents.
First up is the cast. F1 stars Brad Pitt as a pro driver brought out of retirement to mentor a young contender, played by Damson Idris.
In the trailer we also see Kerry Condon as the Formula One team’s technical director, and a glimpse of Javier Bardem. Take a look:
Just as exciting as the cast is F1’s director, Joseph Kosinski. He was at the helm of Top Gun: Maverick, which can only be good news for a film about cars flying around a race track at 200mph.
“The approach for ‘Formula One’ is to shoot at the real races and real cars and capture it,” Kosinski told TheWrap way back in 2022.
“It’s going to be a huge challenge but an exciting one for me.”
The bad news is F1 isn’t out for almost a year. It’s due in cinemas on June 25, 2025.
F1 is produced by Apple and Warner Bros., so we already know F1 will eventually end up on Apple TV+.
Previous Apple movie Napoleon was released in cinemas a little over three months before hitting the service, suggesting F1 may come to Apple TV+ in October 2025.
The film’s trailer was released the same day as the British GP, at Silverstone.
Lewis Hamilton won the race, in his first win since 2021. He is an executive producer on the F1 film. In 2022 he said he doesn’t plan to be in the film, but is widely expected to make a cameo appearance.
F1's budget has been reported to be a massive $300 million, the better part of double Top Gun: Maverick's budget. However, producer Jerry Bruckheimer has disputed that figure according to Deadline.
