Travis Fickett and Terry Matalas, the writers of Steven Spielberg's cancelled adventure show Terra Nova, are writing the pilot with 24 director Jon Cassar at the helm.
The film followed the story of a convict sent back in time to discover how a disease ended up ravaging the planet.
A 90-minute pilot, produced by Chuck Roven and Richard Suckle who were also involved in the film, is currently being planned for the Syfy channel in the US.
