We’ve had 28 Days Later. We've had 28 Weeks Later. And now it looks as if we’re finally getting 28 Fortnights Later.
Okay, we’re kidding on the title – any new chapter in the zombies-but-definitely-not-zombies franchise will surely be titled 28 Months Later, and now Alex Garland has hinted it might be on the way.
Speaking to IGN, the screenwriter/producer of the previous two films said: “We’ve just started talking about it seriously. We’ve got an idea. Danny [Boyle, his long-time collaborator] and [producer] Andrew [Macdonald] and I have been having quite serious conversations about it so it is a possibility. It’s complicated. There’s a whole bunch of reasons why it’s complicated, which are boring so I won’t go into, but there’s a possibility.”
Currently enjoying positive reviews for his directorial debut Ex Machina, due out in cinemas this week, Garland can expect to have even more scripts thrown his way this year now he's a bona fide filmmaker.
As to whether or not the man himself will fancy taking the director’s seat for 28 Months Later remains unknown, but fans of the first two films will certainly be hoping he stays as involved as possible.
Gnawing someone’s leg as extra #43 might be stretching it a little, mind.
