Good news Taken fans: we’re about to see how Bryan Mills acquired those skills…
Primed to join a raft of recent TV shows adapted from the big screen (Minority Report, Fargo, Westworld, Limitless, Bates Motel) it now appears the Taken franchise is also about to make the leap to the telly box as well.
According to The Wrap, a prequel series based on the Luc Besson-helmed and Liam Neeson-starring films has been picked up by Universal Television, who will work with Besson’s EuropaCorp on the show. We presume it'll involve a young spy throat-punching his way around European cities while on assignment from the CIA.
And who knows, maybe someone close to him will be taken by someone and he’ll have to save them, thus earning that set of skills he’s always bragging about.
With Antoine Fuqua’s Training Day and William Friedkin’s To Live And Die In L.A. also getting their own small screen series in the next 12 months, all those people who can’t be bothered to go the cinema must be feeling pretty smug right about now.
