This amazing phone gadget will mean you never smash your phone ever again
Saying goodbye to yet another phone? NO YOU'RE NOT
We’ve all been there: “Oooh, a text!” you say, as you whip your lovely new shiny smartphone out of your pocket, straight out of your fingers and onto the bastard ground. It’s face down, the panic sets in, is it broken? Is the screen smashed? You pick it up, turn it over, and yes: it’s splintered to smithereens. You open the text through gritted teeth. It’s me:
“Psyche. Made you drop your phone.”
So how do you stop this from happening? Well, you buy a case, don’t you? But even that’s not a 100% guarantee - it’s never completely smash-proof. So, what you do instead, is you get one of these:
Essentially, the thing works because it contains sensors that detect when the phone is in free fall, and then these sensors activate eight thin metal curls that ping out and curl up, providing a springy cushion that stops the edges of the phone from banging on whatever you’ve just dropped them on.
Then you simply fold the springs back into the case and throw the phone on the floor again. It’s a very fun game.
Philip worked on the invention for about two and a half years, and now he’s planning on releasing it upon an unsuspecting world, starting firstly with lucky iPhone users. Him and his team are prepping a Kickstarter to raise funds, which should pop up (much like the metal curls on his pho- you get the idea) in July.
Imagine having a phone without at least one smash on it. I know - you’d look like a right nerd!
