Bandmate Floyd Pepper translates as the Muppet shares his life philosophy
Why is it that so many drummers are renowned wild men?
Animal: Hit Drums! Hit Drums!
Floyd Pepper: Animal says you gotta be wild to do proper rhythmic damage to a drum kit. A drummer can’t tippy-toe around the timpani or get subtle around a snare. You gotta get in touch with your inner wild child and let him or her really rip a paradiddle.
What’s your craziest tour story?
Animal: Sorr-ee!!!!
Floyd: Animal would love to share that story, but unfortunately the statute of limitations hasn’t yet expired and he doesn’t fancy servin’ time for the crime.
Do any of the other Muppets have a hidden wildness?
Animal: Pig! Pig! Scar-reeee!
Floyd: Very true. Miss Piggy – or Ol’ Miss Fatback as we prefer to refer to her – can get wicked wild, especially if you get between her and the camera, her frog, or lunch.
What tips would you give our readers for unleashing their inner animal?
Animal: No chain! No chain!
Floyd: Animal says don’t let ’em put a chain around you. Express yourself freely. We gotta keep Animal on a bit of a tether sometimes, otherwise we’d never make it to a gig, you dig?
You have a lot of energy – any diet and workout tips?
Animal: Food! Drums! Women!
Floyd: Eat food. Play drums. Chase women.
How do you relax?
Animal: Bunny.
Floyd: Animal has a pet bunny named Bunny. They meditate together… and go places at night. Where? Nobody knows. And we’re scared to follow.
