Things are going pretty damn well for Anne Hathaway right now. Once seen as the squeaky clean Disney star of The Princess Diaries, she's transformed into a convincing Catwoman and a Golden Globe-winning musical star.
As we wait for her to win an Oscar for her role in Les Miserables, the actress is striking while the iron is hot and, if rumours are to be believed, signing on for a new Shakespeare adaptation.
Taming of the Shrew is a modern-day retelling of the classic comedy, scripted by Abi Morgan, known for her work on The Iron Lady and Shame. It's assumed that Hathaway will star as Katherina, the "shrew" of the title.
The film will be produced by Debra Hayward and Working Title, who have collaborated before on Atonement, Love Actually and Les Miserables.
The story tells the tale of a man trying to court a headstrong woman and turn her into a more obedient bride. Next on Hathaway's slate is a voice role in Rio 2.
