Listen to the unexplained 'space music' Apollo astronauts heard when they visited the moon

Houston, we have a rhythm!

In a newly discovered NASA recording from the '60s that sounds like it could be the start of a Roland Emmerich movie, the crew of Apollo 10 - the mission before Neil Armstrong’s Apollo 11 – can be heard discussing some mysterious “music” they encountered when orbiting the dark side of the moon (no, not Pink Floyd).

"It sounds like, you know, outer space-type music."

"You hear that? That whistling sound? Whooooooooo!"

"Well, that sure is weird music!"

"It's unbelievable! You know?"

"Shall we tell them about it?"

"I don't know. We ought to think about it."

The strange sounds lasted almost the whole hour that the capsule was on the far side of the moon, but the recording was shelved by NASA until 2008, when it was declassified.

Now it has resurfaced in the upcoming third season of the Science Channel's series, NASA's Unexplained Files.

Speaking on the programme Apollo 15 astronaut Al Worden said: “The Apollo 10 crew was very used to the kind of noise that they should be hearing. Logic tells me that if there was something recorded on there, then there was something there.”

"NASA would withhold information from the public if they thought it was in the public's best interest."

The show also discusses a few possible solutions, which include a magnetic field or atmosphere interfering with the radio but we think it’s much more likely to be some sort of alien conspiracy cooked up by David Icke, and possibly Roger Waters.
