Aretha Franklin's funeral is set to be an incredible star-studded affair
The Queen of Soul will get a proper send-off from legends of the game
The world is still coming to terms with the death of Aretha Franklin, a true musical icon, at the age of 76.
The iconic singer, who could improve virtually any song she chose to tackle, died at her Detroit home on August 16.
Tributes have poured in from across the entertainment industry, and she will be given a proper send-off at a funeral service on 31 August.
Famous figures from across the music industry, many of them Franklin’s long-time friends, will be in attendance, some of them not just paying their respects but also performing on the day.
Stevie Wonder and Jennifer Hudson are among the confirmed performers, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Wonder, a close friend of Franklins, was among those to visit her at home in her final days, and the pair have collaborated in the past.
Others due to perform include Franklin’s son Edward, as well as Faith Hill, Chaka Khan and many more.
The funeral service will be held at Greater Grace Temple in Detroit.
Franklin died of pancreatic cancer, having struggled with health problems in her later life, but was still able to put in sensational live performances including this memorable show in 2015.
A couple of months after her funeral, on 14 November, a tribute concert featuring even more industry stars will reportedly be held in New York.
