The 50th anniversary of Doctor Who is coming up next year and, if rumours are to be believed, Steven Moffat could have a pretty fantastic trick up his sleeve.
After breathing life into both the iconic BBC sci-fi show and the more recent reinvention of Sherlock, there could be a crossover of sorts taking place. Holmes himself, Benedict Cumberbatch is apparently in line to take on the role of The Master, aka Doctor Who's arch rival.
The character was last played by John Simm, back when he faced off against David Tennant's Time Lord but a BBC insider revealed that "it’s felt Benedict is the perfect choice if schedules can work." November 2013 will see the 50th aniversary and the return of Doctor Who's greatest nemesis is deemed to be the perfect celebration.
Cumberbatch and Matt Smith are old friends in the real world. Proof below.
