Details have emerged of the long-awaited autobiography from the legendary musician Bernard Sumner, member of Joy Division and New Order.
Chapter and Verse - New Order, Joy Division and Me will be released on 25th September in Hardback and e-book via Bantam Press and promises to tell the story of one of popular music's most important figures.
It will include an account of Bernard's Salford childhood, the early days of Joy Division, the band's explosion in popularity and, of course, the tragic death of Ian Curtis. Sumner then describes the formation of New Order and the subsequent move into the Haçienda and Madchester years.
The book will feature some of the most colourful and unforgettable characters in music history: his bandmate Peter Hook - who himself released a book, Unknown Pleasures: Inside Joy Division, last year - Factory Records boss Tony Wilson, manager Rob Gretton and genius producer Martin Hannett. In the words of the publishers, it promises to be "sometimes moving, often hilarious and occasionally completely out of control".
Now Barney, as he is affectionately know, will give his side of the story for the first time; it promises to be a must-read.
