Two teenagers tried to use the 'trench coat trick' to sneak into 'Black Panther'
Nothing to see here...
Marvel’s latest film Black Panther has received rave reviews around the world and earned more than $360 million (£250 million) on its opening weekend. So it’s no surprise that people are willing to go to extreme lengths to get in on the action and watch the movie.
And in a standing ovation-worthy performance, two teenagers tried to sneak into a cinema while paying for only one ticket using the old trench coat trick. That’s right. They actually tried to pull off our childhood dream. And they would have gotten away with it if it wasn’t for those meddling cinema attendants.
Twitter user @stevelikescups, from California, posted the clip on Saturday. He said: “We tried getting the two for one special at Black Panther. The manager was not having it.”
Here’s a slightly longer version of the video (please note the perfect fedora hat):
In the video, the ticket attendant says: “You have to get down, man.” The teenagers start laughing but reply: “Get down from what?”
But unfortunately for the kids, their ingenious plan in the end went down in flames.
Twitter user Luis Gutierrez asked: “Did you get in tho?”
Pillsbury replied: “Nah, I don’t know how but he knew something was up.”
The video has now gone massively viral with more than 170,000 retweets and 400,000 likes. And people immediately started making references to earlier trench coat gags, including in BoJack Horseman.
Even though it didn’t work out in the end, we still salute your solid A+ effort!
