Bob Dylan's been ghosting the Nobel Peace Prize committee (and he's got form for it)

If you won a literary Nobel Prize you'd be pretty chuffed, right?

Well that's just you. You're not Bob Dylan, who apparently has better things to be getting on with, as he has yet to reply to the committee and accept the prestigious award. The academy have been trying to contact the legendary musician for five days since announcing he was won this year's Nobel Peace Prize for Literature. 

"Right now we are doing nothing,” stated Sara Danius, Permanent Secretary of the academy. "“I have called and sent emails to his closest collaborator and received very friendly replies. For now, that is certainly enough."

Despite playing numerous concerts since being announced as the recipient last Thursday, Dylan has noticeably stayed shtum on the issue - although, perhaps tellingly, he did end his Las Vegas on Thursday night with a cover of Frank Sinatra’s Why Try to Change Me Now.

This is not the first time Dylan has happily ignored those trying to present him with accolades.

He also failed to show up to the Oscars in 2000 when he won a gong for Best Original Song with Things Have Changed from The Wonder Boys movie, and was a no-show in 2010 at the White House when he was supposed to collect the National Medal for the Arts.

"If he doesn't want to come, he won't come. It will be a big party in any case and the honour belongs to him," said Danius.
