Loyal fans of BoJack Horseman have been waiting a while for the fourth season of the Netflix show, but that wait is almost over.
The animation, which stars Will Arnett and Alison Brie, has never been the kind of programme to go by-the-book – I mean they tricked us into thinking it was a comedy for almost a full season – and that even goes for its trailers.
Netflix has released the first trailer for Season 4, which debuts on 8 September, and it bucks the trend of these things by barely featuring the title character at all.
A warning that Season 3 spoilers will follow.
Narrated by Brie’s character Diane Nguyen, the trailer picks up where the previous season ended, with BoJack running wild not long after witnessing the death of his friend and former sitcom co-star Sarah Lynn.
Viewers were left wondering what would follow the particularly bleak climax to the season, and the new trailer seems to fill in some of the gaps when it comes to characters including Diane, Mr Peanutbutter and Princess Carolyn – as well as returning to a character who may or may not be the lead character’s daughter.
Does this mean Season 4 will be more BoJack-light, or is this just another red herring?
We won’t have to wait all that long to find out.
