What with the arrival of multi-million dollar genre definers and platform-launching titles, video games have been quite serious of late. Developers and publishers have a lot invested in making sure every release is the "best thing ever" in the hope of shifting enough copies to make for a decent Christmas party. It's high time we had some good old fashioned fun. And puns. Lots of puns.
Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is the perfect antidote to the high-brow sensibilities of the likes of Destiny and Alien: Isolation, as indicated by its ridiculous title and lavish launch trailer.
Focusing on the story of Handsome Jack and his attempt to escape from his exile on Elpis, the moon of Pandora, The Pre-Sequel brings more of what fans have come to expect from the 'lands series: tons of guns, striking visuals and an unhealthy number of jokes.
Launching on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC and Macs on 17 October, things are set to get very silly.
