Bran is going to change everything in Game of Thrones this season

He's finally going to do more than look damp and upset about hanging out with a guy who can only say "Hodor".

Bran is going to change everything in Game of Thrones this season
28 April 2016

We're all aboard the Game of Thrones hype train. Season Six has finally pulled out of HBO Junction (albeit somewhat slowly), gunning toward Murder Central via Bonking Parkway.

But we'll be honest, there's one stop we'd not been looking forward to: the returning storyline of Bran Stark and the vaguely creepy Children of the Forest. In seasons past, it's these points of underground waffle and philosophising that usually see us nip to the kitchen to make a brew. As far as we're concerned, this was the last time Bran Stark did anything interesting...

However, that's all set to change in Season Six. Isaac Hempstead-Wright (Bran) has hinted to Entertainment Weekly that things are about to get very interesting for the lost Stark.

In episode two, we'll finally see Bran use the powers he's developed under the Three-Eyed Raven, giving him the ability to 'see' past, present, and future events.

"His been very insular in his storyline," said Hempstead-Wright. "Now he’s realized he’s been having his dreams because he’s got to save Westeros. It’s such a cool storyline now."

Yes Isaac, but that's largely because it was naffer than chewing crayons before, wasn't it?

"Bran is pretty damn close to being the Three-Eyed Raven now. Previously, he’s seen tiny glimpses of future or past but never has he been very much in control of the situation. Now we’re given looks into very important events in the past, present, and future of this world and Bran is beginning to piece them together like a detective, almost as if he’s watching the show. Equally, he’s now discovering how crucial he could be in the Great War. It’s quite Inception-y. His power is not just in telling us about the history, but also might have a serious impact on the future."

If Bran starts dipping in and out of past events, this could make sense of previously rumoured scenes that would see Sean Bean's Ned Stark return for some important flash back storytelling. Which would be ace.

We're just delighted that Bran might actually get to do something more than look damp and upset about hanging out with a guy who can only say "Hodor".
