Some 800,000 porn accounts were just leaked online
Got a Brazzers account? You should probably change your password
Do you have an online account with the adult entertainment website Brazzers?
We're not here to judge - we only ask as nearly 800,000 user details have just been exposed in a data breach after a forum hack.
Tech site Motherboard has been provided with some 790,724 user email addresses and passwords, verifying that hackers had managed to obtain subscriber details from a Brazzers forum site.
"This matches an incident which occurred in 2012 with our 'Brazzersforum,' which was managed by a third party. The incident occurred because of a vulnerability in the said third party software, the 'vBulletin' software, and not Brazzers itself," said Brazzers public relations manager Matt Stevens.
As the hack appeared to occur on a Brazzers forum, Stevens believes the details that could be obtained on users has the potential to be more damaging than theft of membership accounts.
"When it’s solely membership of an adult website, you know the person has an interest in adult material, which, whilst potentially embarrassing, tells you very little about them. Once they’re commenting within a forum though, now you have very personal information about their intimate thoughts. We also know that forum breaches frequently include not just user credentials, but private messages as well, and those can be particularly revealing," he told Motherboard.
If you do have a Brazzers account, best change your password just in case. And when joining any internet forum, consider using an email address that isn't linked to other accounts, in addition to a password unique to that site.
Stay safe out there, people.
