Bryan Cranston just broke down revealing his most emotional Breaking Bad scene
Breaking Bad wasn’t just an emotional roller coaster, it was the Six Flags Magic Mountain of emotional roller coasters - bigger in pain, love, hurt, loss, vengeance and despair than almost any other TV show before it.
Now, just as you might be getting misty-eyed yourself, Bryan Cranston has revealed the one scene throughout the show's six emotionally-sapping seasons that held more emotional weight than any: Jane's death.
Speaking on Inside The Actors Studio, the man who went from high school chemistry teacher to murderous drugs kingpin Walter White explained precisely what went through his mind in those moments, which, in case you'd forgotten, saw Walt look on ambivalently while Jesse’s drug addict girlfriend choked to death on her own vomit.
Laying bare the "push pull" he found inside himself, his words make watching it now even more distressing:
"[Walt] hears [Jane] start to cough and he goes to her because that’s human instinct, and before he gets to her he stops and thinks, ‘Wait a minute — she’s a junkie. She’s got Jesse on heroin; she’ll kill him. It’s better if I don’t do anything. But she’s a little girl — she’s young enough to be my daughter.’ And then I see the face of my own daughter in her place, and I didn’t want to; I didn’t plan on it …”
Cranston then weeps, his outpouring of emotion highlighting just how fully charge his role as Walter White really was, while also reminding us we're in need of another Netflix binge.
It's just that good.
