Carhartt smartens up

With help from Adam Kimmel

Carhartt smartens up
26 July 2011

Think ‘Carhartt’ and you’re more likely to conjure up images of hard-wearing khaki shorts and warming hoodies than devilishly dapper suit jackets. However, the hugely popular workwear brand is set to step away from its rugged roots this year, thanks to a new collaboration with leading high-end designer Adam Kimmel.

It’s a unique sponsored_longform that draws on Kimmel’s expert employment of modern fabrics and tailoring, and Carhartt’s easy-to-wear, sturdy style.

At the centre of the collection are a navy moleskin hooded work coat and an overdyed worker twill blazer (pictured). The latter represents the first ever blazer to be released by Carhartt, but it has struck sartorial gold at the first time of asking. And it’s not just down to beginner’s luck.

Elsewhere in the capsule you’ll find sleek, buttoned-collar check shirts and a hoodless moleskin jacket.

The range is available from online retailer My-wardrobe.com and, since it will be offering next-day delivery on Carhartt’s durable-yet-stylish gear, the “I’m in my work clothes” excuse will soon be rendered useless even if you’re invited rock climbing or skateboarding.
