Cillian Murphy stars in Stella McCartney's cracking new AW17 film
With a soundtrack provided by Sir Paul McCartney
Legendary British designer Stella McCartney celebrated the launch of her first ever menswear collection with a short film – and it’s good! It’s real good!
Directed by Sean Ellis and featuring by ol' scary eyes Cillian Murphy, made following the director and actor's 2016 film Anthropoid, the short film - "Stella Man" was shot in Buckinghamshire and makes good use of the area's scenic woodlands. It's the perfect backdrop for some quintessential British style - camel overcoats, double-breasted blazers - and a nice juxtaposition with some of the more modern items. "The environment provides an encompassing visual backdrop of the character's (Murphy) struggle between the echoes of his past and what feels like the present," says the Stella team. Sound like our hangover.
Here's a quote from McCartney herself: "Working with Sean was so effortless and the results are exactly what I intended... The mood is one that reflects the more tailored edge of the menswear and manages to have suspense, with Cillian's performance married with my Dad's original score. To have this team is a dream."
Yep. Her dad – up-and-coming musician Paul McCartney – provides the notes to set everything in place. That is some team, tbf.
