Classic album covers get the Lego treatment

Hey ho, Lego. Ok, that’s not quite what fallen rock’n’roll idol Joey Ramone sang in Blitzkrieg Bop, but after casting our beady little eyes upon this collection of iconic album covers rendered in every schoolboy’s favourite colourful plastic bricks from Denmark, we like to think The Ramones frontman would forgive us our deliberate misquote.

The work of British artist Aaron Savage, the idea is a simple one: reconstruct a host of music’s finest album covers – and Muse’s Absolution – using only Lego. Pleasingly, it all works, the endearing simplicity of Lego chiming with rock’n’roll’s playful immediacy.

The stylistic range and chronology are suitably varied, so that means Elvis Presley’s seminal self-titled debut album rubbing plastic with more recent classics like Dizzee Rascal’s Boy In Da Corner and Lily Allen’s It’s Not Me, it’s You.
