CNN Were Shocked That The Release Of Straight Outta Compton Didn’t Cause Apocalyptic Violence

Last weekend the much awaited NWA biopic, Straight Outta Compton was released in the US (UK release: August 28), where it raked in a ridiculous $56.1 million (£35.6 million) - a record for an R-rated film released in this period.

Considering the masses that undoubtedly went to see the film then, coupled with the fact that it’s based around hip-hop culture, you’d probably assume that it was met with balls-out violence?

You know, white people fighting black people. Black people fighting white people. Maybe a great big shootout and a shedload of weed smoking. Didn’t think that? That’s probably because you’re a normal well-rounded individual.

CNN and US movie theatres on the other hand apparently have a far less forward thinking view of society. The news organisation ran a segment that basically expressed immense shock that a film could be about rap wouldn't incite a gangland shootout outside the theater. In fact, not only that, but people were actually queuing to get in. Politely queuing, like civilized people if you can people it.

Go figure.

Their shock apparently derived from several movie theatres ramping up security in the build up to the film’s release, the anticipation of violence hanging grimly in the air.

We can only assume that there will be a militaristic level of security for the release of the next Expendables or any other film that’s a bit punchy.

What a time to be alive.

Go see Straight Outta Compton when it's released without stabbing people. The world will lose its racist mind.
