Conor McGregor has made a very bold prediction for his fight with Floyd Mayweather
Will Mystic Mac strike again?
If a Conor McGregor fight isn’t preceded by the Irishman laying out exactly what will happen, is it really even a Conor McGregor fight?
The UFC two-weight champion has developed a reputation for his ‘Mystic Mac’ predictions, most notably when he correctly anticipated defeating Jose Aldo in less than one minute (he took just 13 seconds).
We had been waiting to see whether the same thing would happen ahead of his upcoming boxing bout with Floyd Mayweather, and ‘The Notorious’ has delivered so far.
“Last night I landed at LAX and Conor landed at the same time from Ireland,” UFC President Dana White said on Fox Sports 1’s Speak For Yourself.
“[He] steps off the plane and says ‘I will knock this man out within four rounds’.”
Just one of McGregor’s last seven MMA victories has gone the distance – his rematch win over Nate Diaz in August 2016 – but boxing, especially against the undefeated Mayweather, is another ball (glove?) game altogether.
Fox Sports Embedded PlayerMayweather might have turned 40 earlier this year, but he remains a heavy favourite with bookmakers for the August bout – he has won all 49 of his previous pro boxing bouts, and McGregor would make the perfect 50th victim.
The American is priced as short as 1/9 in some places, while McGregor is generally between 4/1 and 5/1 to score a shock victory.
