The summer is nearly, okay pretty much completely, over and while it does mean colder nights, it also means better films.

Looking to score big during awards season is Dallas Buyers Club, a true-life tale starring Matthew McConaughey as a man diagnosed with HIV who finds himself smuggling drugs in order to keep himself, and others, alive.

After roles in Killer Joe, Magic Mike and Mud, McConaughey is on a roll and many are predicting that this might be the performance to finally bring him an Oscar. His emaciated look will certainly help matters as the Academy loves a physical transformation (see Charlize Theron in Monster and Nicole Kidman in The Hours).

The film also stars Jennifer Garner and an almost unrecognisable Jared Leto.
