Dave Bautista is probably not going to return for 'Guardians of the Galaxy 3'
He might really be going through with it
It looks like Dave Bautista is very much intent on following through on his threats to quit the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise.
The star spoke exclusively with ShortList last month about potentially leaving the cast of Guardian’s of The Galaxyafter Disney’s treatment of James Gunn. Fan boys and industry gossips alike have since been drawn into debate over whether the Marvel franchise’s long time director, Gunn, deserved a second chance after being fired for a series of offensive tweets he did ten years ago and whether or not historic tweets could and should be held against people in positions of power.
Now, Bautista has delved deeper into his ill-will towards Disney, the studio behind Marvel’s massive Guardian’s and Avenger series’. Speaking on The Jonathan Ross Show on Saturday 1 September the former WWE wrestler said:
“It’s a bittersweet conversation. No, it’s a bitter-bitter conversation, because I’m not really happy with what they’ve done with James Gunn.
“They’re putting the movie off. It’s on hold indefinitely. And to be honest with you, I don’t know if I want to work for Disney.
“I’ve been very vocal about the way I feel. I am not afraid to admit how I feel.”
Bautista isn’t the only Hollywood A-lister to openly disagree with the manner in which Disney have dealt with the termination of Gunn’s employment. In August a show of force emerged from other loyal Guardian’s of The Galaxy cast members after they signed an open letter to Disney, asking that his employment be reinstated. The letter was signed by Dave Bautista and other stars including Chris Pratt, Bradley Cooper, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, Karen Gillan, Michael Rooker and Sean Gunn.
The current situation of the film is “indefinitely postponed”, so there’s no real hint on whether we’ll see another installment in the near future or not, let alone on whether or not we’ll see Big Dave appear in it. Who knows, eh? It’ll probably all amount to nothing but for now, hats off to Bautista for sticking to his guns at least.
