Word reaches us that Q-Tip - he of the legendary rap group A Tribe Called Quest - is teaming up with Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill to produce a hip hop drama series.
You certainly can't fault the calibre of those involved, with Hill and DiCaprio coming straight off the back of the critically-acclaimed Wolf Of Wall Street, and Q-Tip being one of the pioneers of hip hop. The trio are developing a TV series based on Q-Tip's experience during late 1980s and early 1990s when A Tribe Called Quest were part of a group of artists known collectively as The Native Tongues.
The project will be produced by DiCaprio's production company Appian Way and is apparently being touted to networks next week. Q-Tip and ATCQ have already been the subject of a documentary film, released in 2011, Beats, Rhymes and Life: The Travels of a Tribe Called Quest, directed by Michael Rapaport, about their reunion in 2008 - presumably this would focus on the original life and times of the band. If it gets the green light, it could be a fantastic document of one of the golden eras of rap music.
